The Railways on Thursday ordered a high-level inquiry by the commissioner of rail safety into the train accident in Uttar Pradesh, which left 33 people dead and 17 injured.
Crackers carried by passengers led to the fire in the Tamil Nadu Express that claimed 32 lives in July, according to an inquiry by Commissioner Railway Safety which absolved the railway staff.
The probe committee comprises principal chief security commissioners of the Western Railway and the Central Railway, principal chief commercial manager of the North Western Railway, principal chief medical director of the North Central Railway and principal chief personnel officer of the West Central Railway.
Mumbaikars, especially the office-goers, heaved a sigh of relief as the train services were restored.
The similar modus operandi in all these murders has led the police to suspect the involvement of gangsters, the officer further said.
The Western Railway is awaiting clearance from the Commissioner of Railway Safety, for running trains on this high-speed corridor at 130 kmph which will help cut down travel time by atleast 30 minutes.
